Give them gifts, marry out your daughter etc etc. but that just means you need to work hard with your relations to kepe them as allies.

As mentioned in other post the only way to ensure positive relations is forming vassals after you become shogunate. Thats why you should stop and build a significant war chest before triggering Realm Divide, because you wont get another chance at peace. It goes until either you die, or you kill everyone else.
